Chicago, First Impressions (of Food)
Welcome to Chicago
Visa, road-trip, move, new country and a new city, that’s what’s been going on in the last six months, and why it’s been a bit quiet. Although you’re pretty much up to speed if you’re following me on Instagram.
So, apparently I’ve become an American. Alright, not like an actual password wielding citizen of the US of A, but an American in the sense that I have moved here. And by here I mean Chicago, the second city, the windy city, the land of Al Capone… You get the idea.
It’s still the early days, so we’ve focused on the basics, like surviving the winter, admiring the architecture and gorging on food; and with food I mean mostly hot dogs, deep dish pizza and beer. You know, the basics.
I didn’t expect to like the deep dish pizza, but it is actually awesome, if you get it from the right place. I’ll be writing a definite guide to Chicago deep dish pizza later on.
The hot dog issue is more complicated; Chicago is “famous” for its Chicago style hot dog, which I’ll be honest, is just a hot dog, but there are some pretty awesome gourmet hot dawgs to be found. Again more about this later on.
So yes, in the up-coming months you can expect a few Chicago themed posts.
