Brighton, or London-by-the-sea as they sometimes call it, is a sea-side town popular among Londoners on sunny weekends, and… Wait, what! What do you mean London-by-the-sea?

Driving to Arundel – the Sussex road trip

Posted by on March 3rd, 2013 in Destinations, England, Europe, Feature | 1 comment

When you live in London, it’s easy to forget that there is a whole country out there that you can’t reach with the tube. When I start planning for holidays, the first thing I look at is flights out of England, but there is actually more to good old Blightly than just London.

London Autumn – Photo essay

Posted by on December 1st, 2012 in Destinations, England, Europe, London | 8 comments

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower Albert Camus   Last year I completely missed autumn as I was in South East Asia the whole time; and there isn’t that much colours during the fall there. So it has been two years since I’ve seen one; and I hadn’t quite realized how much I actually had missed them. I mean I’ve always liked them, but hadn’t realized you could actually miss them. Now London autumns probably aren’t quite the best you can see, compared to the likes of Finland or Scotland, as some people were quick to remind me when I was raving on and on about the London autumn. But hey, if you haven’t seen an autumn for two years, London is pretty good. Unfortunately the autumn was pretty cloudy the whole time, so...

Cambridge in Autumn – Photo Essay

Posted by on October 17th, 2012 in Destinations, England, Europe | 18 comments

Against my will, in the course of my travels, the belief that  everything worth knowing was known at Cambridge gradually wore off. In this respect my travels were very useful to me.* Bertrand Russel Just because my two previous trips to Cambridge were for beer festivals, doesn’t mean that is the only reason to visit it; far from it. Cambridge is actually a really nice place to drop by if you happen to be in London or around. Cambridge is of course famous for the University of Cambridge, which was set up already in 1209. It’s one of the top universities in the world, which is no surprise considering it has created such minds as Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Francis Bacon, Lord Kelvin and Alan Turing. And these days it’s only about 50 minutes from central London...

Posted by on October 2nd, 2012 in England, Europe, Tips | 2 comments

There just seems to be an abundance of fun things to do with a board. Sure I started with snowboarding, but since then I’ve realized there is a whole world of board related activities that I need to try out and possibly injure myself with. I don’t know what it is about boards and high speeds. It just seems like it is human nature to try to board any slope, material or place we can find. Probably not all experiments have worked out brilliantly, but hey at least we now know what works! So here goes, my top 5 fun things to do with a board: 1. Snowboarding Alright, so this is obvious I would imagine, but if you haven’t tried it yet, you totally should. While I am a skier at heart, there are certain moments when a...

London 2012 Olympics – One Londoner’s Rant

Posted by on August 9th, 2012 in England, Europe, London | 4 comments

So the Olympics; you probably have heard that they started a few weeks ago. And if you live in London or anywhere in the UK, then you’ve known about the Olympics for quite a while now; unless you’ve been living under a rock, a really big rock, in a forest, far away. And even then I think you would’ve known what’s happening. It’s been impossible to avoid Olympic news around here. They probably didn’t cover the 70 day and 8000 mile journey the torch took around UK as extensively outside UK as they did here. BBC has been telling us every day what the torch has been up to every day since it started its journey from Greece months ago. They’ve been trying to get everybody into the “Olympic mood”. And since the Olympics started, the BBC might as...
