Year In Review – My Top 10 Instagram Photos of 2014

Posted by on January 22nd, 2015 in Feature, North America, Photos, USA | 0 comments

Looking through your old Instagram photos always brings back memories, such as why did I post that picture of a German folk legend pooping gold coins? And as some of you might have noticed, best way to keep track of my travels is on Instagram, which I tend to update almost daily if I have seen something worth a picture, or if we’ve just built a sick gingerbread house. So here are my favorite Instagram pictures from 2014 in no particular order; the selection process has been very scientific based on number of likes, artistic merit and awesomeness.   #1  Castle Combe Castlecombe, the 2nd best village in England, at least according to The Times. Islands and beaches of El Nido are about as close to a paradise you can find on this planet. Little havens of tranquility hidden between the towering rocks sheltering them from the wind. Crystal clear waters full of colourful fish and life. All you need is a cold beer or a coconut.

And all this is not helped by the fact that it’s freezing cold (has been for the last few weeks in London). So to be honest, I’d rather be somewhere warm and relaxing right now, like a beach. And the place that came to my mind was Puerto Escondido in Mexico. The first beach I went to on my last years RTW. I got stuck there for to two weeks. Just lying on the beach, swimming, learning to surf, eating pescadillas and drinking cold...

Stirling Castle

Posted by on December 30th, 2010 in Europe, HDR, Photos, Scotland, Stirling | 0 comments

Although one might argue that there really isn’t anything more important to see in Scotland than all the distilleries (and I would agree with that argument), we did go see Stirling Castle on our way back towards England last summer. You have to include some history in your tour of Scotland if you spend over a week driving around; well then again the distilleries do have a lot of history, so I wouldn’t hold it against anyone if they focused just on them. Stirling Castle Stirling Castle is set on top of a steep hill; the placement obviously been given a lot of thought, making the fortress easily defensible. The key location has helped to make it the most important castle in the Scottish history; and with stormy clouds gathering over it, it was an impressive sight. Defenses of...
